Deputy Minister of MIPT Discusses Expanding Cooperation with JICA in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 5 September, Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade (MIPT) Shokhrukh Gulyamov met with Yoshibumi Bito, Head of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) representation in Uzbekistan.

JICA’s overall project portfolio in Uzbekistan totals US$5.5 billion and includes 50 initiatives across energy, agriculture and water management, healthcare, infrastructure, education, and other sectors.

In 2025, to accelerate project implementation in energy, transport, free economic zones, education, tourism, and agriculture, nine JICA consultant teams and missions arrived in Uzbekistan to assist in preparing project concepts and pre-project documentation.

During the discussions, both sides explored prospects for expanding cooperation in healthcare, infrastructure, and industry, as well as further development of projects supporting entrepreneurship, education, and human capital enhancement.

Special attention was given to promoting investment cooperation and attracting additional resources into Uzbekistan’s economy.
