Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance discusses ooperation on promising projects with representatives of KfW

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 20 April, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Ilkhom Norkulov met with representatives of the German Development Bank (KfW), headed by the KFW Director for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia, Ms. Veronica Garcia Del Arco.

KfW is a German development bank through which the German federal government finances investments and related consulting services in developing countries and countries with economies in transition. The Bank is committed to the creation and development of social and economic infrastructure in these countries, as well as to the establishment of a stable and accessible financial system while ensuring a rational attitude to resources and the environment.

The bank has been operating in Uzbekistan since 1993. Implemented activities in Uzbekistan are concentrated in such areas as sustainable economic development and healthcare.

The meeting was also attended by the Director of the State Budget Department Sherzod Mukhamedov, Deputy Director of the State Debt Department Zarif Olimjonov.

As guests, the meeting was attended by Director of the KfW Regional Office for Central Asia Andreas Schneider, Head of Cooperation Development Department of the German Embassy Michael Wimmer, Senior Portfolio Manager of KfW Mr. Vitalis Ritter, Project Coordinator of the KfW Regional Office Sultonmurod Tukhtaev.

At the beginning of the dialogue, Ms. Veronica Garcia Del Arco expressed her sincere gratitude to the Government for the constant support of the activities of the KfW Development Bank in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In turn, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Ilkhom Norkulov acquainted the guests with the ongoing reforms in the country in the energy sector, the social system, the transformation of state enterprises and the "green" economy.

During the meeting, discussions were held on cooperation within the framework of current and future projects. The parties exchanged views on establishing a strategic partnership within the framework of financial cooperation. In addition, issues of supporting the budget policy were touched upon.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue joint cooperation in the above areas and expand the scope of mutually beneficial projects.
