Denis Istomin becomes first Uzbek player in fourth round of Grand Slam

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Denis Istomin became the first tennis player of Uzbekistan, who reached the fourth round of Grand Slam tournament and wrote a history in tennis of Uzbekistan.

On Friday, Denis Istomin defeated Columbia’s Alejandro Falla 6-3 6-3 3-6 7-6(5) in the third round of Wimbledon.

The match lasted 2 hours and 43 minutes. Denis Istomin served 16 aces compared to one of Falla.

Istomin won two break-points of eight possible, while Falla claimed one break-point from eight chances. Uzbek number one made 26 unforced errors and 44 winners.

Alejandro Falla made 28 unforced errors and clinched 21 winners in the match.

Denis Istomin will face Russia’s Mikhail Yuzhniy in fourth round.
