Demianenko keeps Nasaf humble
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Nasaf Karshi boss Anatoly Demianenko hailed his side’s 9-0 demolition of Dempo that booked their place in the knockout stage of the AFC Cup but warned his players not to take their foot off the gas for the remainder of the group stage.

Ivan Boskovic scored four times as Nasaf recorded the biggest victory in the history of the AFC Cup.

After Dempo’s keeper Luis Barreto had been forced off through injury, the Nasaf striker began the rout in the 12th minute and claimed his second in first-half stoppage-time, in between which Andrejs Pereplotkins, Artur Gevorkyan and Ilkhom Shomuradov all found the back of the net.

Boskovic scored twice more in the second-half while Gevorkyan and Shuhrat Mirholdirshaev also found the target as Nasaf collected their fourth consecutive victory to top Group A and seal their progression to the next round.

“First of all, congratulations to our fans with a great team game. The fans witnessed a large number of goals scored and got pleasure from the game,” he said.

“Our players will try to play the next matches at the same level. The most important thing is that after such a match, the players do not become conceited.

“Today I would like to mention the entire team. Each player played excellently. The whole team played excellently.”

Dempo were without boss Armando Colaco after he was admitted to hospital with high blood pressure and assistant boss Mauricio Afonso felt the early injury to Barreto played a big part in the one-sided defeat.

“We knew that Nasaf are a very tough opponent, they are really strong team,” he said.

“I thought before the match that we could lose. At the beginning of the match we lost our goalkeeper and the reserve goalie was not ready for the match. This was the cause of the massive defeat.

Despite the defeat, Dempo still harbour hopes of joining Nasaf in the next round even though they have just three points from four games.

“To qualify from the group stage, we must win both remaining matches,“ Afonso said.

“Today Nasaf had impressive support from their fans, which also helped them to play a better game. I think that Nasaf are able to reach AFC Cup final.”
