The UNWTO General Assembly session is held once in two years. This event is organized in various cities around the world, which are selected by participants of the organization by voting, the press service of the State Tourism Committee said.
The agenda for the 22nd session includes election of a new general secretary, tourism and sustainable development goals, a special meeting on “smart tourism”, transformation of the UNWTO Global Code of Ethics into an international convention and current trends in the tourism sector. Participants of the event will also discuss the activities and key priorities of the organization for the next two years.
This year, more than 1000 delegates from more than 160 countries are taking part in the event.
Uzbekistan as a country with a huge tourist potential is interested in actively participating in the event of this scale, since this platform contains huge opportunities for promotion of the national tourism product of the country.
In particular, the delegation will hold meetings with heads of tourist agencies of several countries, including. China, Russia, Turkey, Malaysia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, etc.
The purpose of the meetings is to discuss and reach concrete agreements on the qualitative development of bilateral relations in the field of tourism.
