Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 17 October, a delegation from the US Department of Commerce led by Deputy Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Marisa Lago visited the IT Park Uzbekistan complex.

The delegation was received by the Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov. He acquainted the guests with the activities of IT Park, with tax preferences and incentives for IT companies, as well as with the current results of the export of ITES services of the country and infrastructure projects throughout the country.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of education, cooperation with USAID, development of IT-English for the population of Uzbekistan, as well as issues of further development of the One Million Uzbek Coders project.

In addition, the meeting participants exchanged views on issues related to intellectual property rights, data localization and cybersecurity laws.

Marisa Lago noted that the changes that have taken place in the country since 2010 are striking. She also mentioned that the American side is committed to further strengthening trade and economic ties between enterprises in Uzbekistan and the United States to increase employment, growth and prosperity in both countries.
