Dekhkan possess 93% of cattle in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
As of 1 April 2009, the population of cattle in farms of all types increased by 608,000 heads (up 8.2%), including cows - by 198,200 heads (6.3%), sheep and goats - by 797,700 heads (6%), pigs - by 4,300 heads (4.7%) and poultry - by 3.237 million heads (13.2%).
In total population the share of cattle in dekhkan farms was 93%, in private farms - 5.8%, cows - 94.5 and 4.7%, sheep and goats - 75.5% and 7.8%, pigs - 76.8% and 10.9%, poultry - 68.6% and 9.3% respectively.
Farms of all types produced 279,400 tonnes of meat in living weight (up 6.7% year-on-year), 1.012 million tonnes of milk (6.8%) and 512.6 million eggs (12.6%) in the first quarter of 2009.
The share of dekhkan farms in total production of meat was 94.2%, milk - 96.1%, eggs - 50.4%, wool - 91.1%, karakuls - 79.1% and vegetables - 73.1%.
