Debut fencing championship of Central Asia starts on 15 February

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The first open championship of the Central Asian Fencing Confederation will be held on 15-17 February in the capital’s gymnastics complex Uzbekistan.

Juniors and cadets from Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will compete for prizes. More than 150 fencers will perform on these three types of weapons (sword, rapier, saber).

On 25 January 2019, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan registered the Central Asia Confederation of Fencing, which unites the fencing federations of Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The main goal of this organization is the development and popularization, increasing the prestige of fencing in the countries of Central Asia. In addition, the Confederation will address the task of establishing and developing relationships and cooperation with other subjects of the International Fencing Federation (FIE).

This tournament will be the debut for the new Confederation.
