"Days of Uzbek cinema" to be held in St. Petersburg

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 22 to 25 June, Days of Uzbek Cinema organized by Roskino with the support of the Russian Ministry of Culture will be held in St. Petersburg, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reports.

The program includes five films from Uzbek directors - both novelties of recent years and earlier films awarded prizes at various festivals, including international film screenings.

The opening ceremony, on 22 June, will be visited by a delegation of Uzbek filmmakers: Shukhrat Rizaev, First Deputy Director of the Cinematography Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sayora Khudaiberdiyeva, specialist of the International Department, Furkat Usmanov, director of the documentary and newsreel film studio, Akbar Bekturdyev, director of the film "Uzbek Woman", actress, performer of the main roles in films "Uzbek" and "Heritage" ("Meros") Aisenam Yusupov.

On this day, the military drama "Uzbek Woman" will be shown, filmed jointly with Belarusian filmmakers, telling the story of a sniper girl - eighteen-year-old Uzbek Jamila, a graduate of a shooting school. The plot is based on real events. The prototype of the main character of the film was the legendary Zebo Ganieva, who destroyed more than 120 Nazis. She was awarded the Order of the Red Banner, the Red Star, the medal "For the Defense of Moscow" and the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st degree.

The film weekend also includes the military drama Evrilish (Evolution), the melodrama Meros (Heritage), the drama Tengiz and the family fantasy Sehrli Kolpokcha (Magic Riding Hood).
