Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Free film screenings will take place as part of the XV Tashkent International Film Festival “Pearl of the Silk Road”.

On 29 and 30 September, in Tashkent, as part of the XV Tashkent International Film Festival “Pearl of the Silk Road”, Russian Cinema Days will be held, organized by ROSKINO with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

At free screenings at the Magic Cinema, viewers will see four films. The program included the drama "Bullfinch" - a new film by Boris Khlebnikov ("Arrhythmia", "Storm", "Ordinary Woman"), which became the opening film of the 45th Moscow International Film Festival. “Bullfinch” was also shown at the Russian Film Festival in China in September this year. The film tells about the crew of a fishing boat caught in a storm.

Fans of the science fiction genre will be able to appreciate the breathtaking special effects of the fantastic drama “Mira” by Dmitry Kiselev. In the story, an orbital space station worker tries to save his daughter from a meteor shower that hits the Earth. The film's consultant was pilot-cosmonaut, hero of the Russian Federation Fyodor Yurchikhin, who also worked with director Dmitry Kiselev on another space blockbuster, “The Time of the First.”

The comedy “Young Man” directed by Alexander Fomin with the talented Pavel Tabakov, the successor of the famous acting dynasty in the title role, will make you think about the difference in the values of generations, and the family film “Chuk and Gek. Big Adventure" from director Alexander Kott will take many viewers back to childhood: the film is based on the story of the famous Soviet writer Arkady Gaidar, and, undoubtedly, the story of Chuk and Gek in a new reading will interest the audience.

Days of Russian cinema under the Russian Film Festival brand will be held in Uzbekistan for the third time. Cooperation with the Tashkent International Film Festival allows us to present modern Russian cinema to a larger number of Uzbek viewers.

The business program of the Tashkent Film Festival includes a presentation of co-production projects from Russia and Uzbekistan, master classes by Russian directors, producers and actors.

Screenings of Russian cinema in Tashkent are part of a whole range of events to develop cinematic ties between Russia and Uzbekistan. Thus, in June 2023, ROSKINO, with the support of the Russian Ministry of Culture, held the Days of Uzbek Cinema in St. Petersburg. In addition, Uzbek filmmakers were part of two ROSKINO film location tours: producers got acquainted with potential filming locations in Russian regions - in St. Petersburg in the Kaliningrad region. Representatives of the Uzbek film industry also acted as experts at seminars for Russian filmmakers as part of the ROSKINO Academy educational program. In addition, work continues under the Memorandum of Cooperation between ROSKINO and the Uzbekistan Cinematography Agency, signed in 2022 as part of the XIV Tashkent International Film Festival “Pearl of the Silk Road”.
