According to Uzbekistan Tennis Federation, the match against China will be the 50th tie for Uzbekistan at Davis Cup, which is considered as unofficial world championship.

Uzbekistan played its first season in Group 3 of Asia/Oceania Zone in 1993 and moved to the Group 1. In last 16 years, Uzbekistan reached World Group Play-offs six times.

Uzbekistan played against China. Uzbekistan won three matches and lost the same number of ties. Last time, the sides played in March 2010 and Uzbekistan lost the tie, which was held in Beijing.

Current tie will be held at Pahlavon sport complex on 1-3 February 2013. The Uzbek federation said that new clay court has been laid for the match.
