He said that Uzavtosanoat (Uzbek Car Industry) will implement 16 projects in the region, which will allow to create 780 new jobs.
In particular, he said that the project on production of 40,000 Damas microbuses and 40,000 components to them will be realized in the region.
Governor said that the project will be implemented within the programme on development of industrial potential of the region, approved by the Uzbek President Islam Karimov.
Asaka-based GM Uzbekistan started to produce Damas microbuses in March 1996. In 2006, the plant launched production of modernized version of Damas.
Currently, GM Uzbekistan produces eight car models, including four sedans – Nexia, Lacetti, Malibu and Cobalt, two small cars – Matiz and Spark, one SUV model – Captiva and microbus Damas.
