Damage from Illegal Energy Consumption in Uzbekistan Exceeds 86 Billion Soums in August

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In August, Uzbekistan recorded cases of illegal electricity and natural gas consumption totaling more than 86.5 billion soums, according to the Uzenergoinspektsiya.

During control inspections, specialists identified 179 violations. This included the theft of 36.8 million kilowatt-hours of electricity valued at 58.9 billion soums and 8.7 million cubic meters of gas worth 27.5 billion soums.

As a result of the inspections, 476 administrative reports were filed, and the materials were forwarded to law enforcement agencies for further proceedings.

For comparison, in July, losses from illegal energy connections exceeded 96 billion soums.
