Customs officers seize large number of mobile handsets
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Customs officers of Uzbekistan prevented attempts to smuggle mobile handsets to Uzbekistan, the press service of the State Customs Committee said.

Customs officers in Tashkent city in cooperation with other law enforcement bodies stopped two citizens of Samarkand region. During inspection Nexia car, the officials found 417 mobile handsets for 28 million soums.

Preliminary investigation showed that the goods were smuggled from neighboring state and it is planned to sell them in Samarkand region. Customs investigation is underway on the case.

Citizen of Bukhara region Sergei K. tried to smuggle 33 mobile handsets. During customs clearance of passengers of Irkutsk-Tashkent flight, the customs officers detected handsets at his luggage and he failed to show them in declaration.

Citizen of Samarkand region Umriniso M. tried to smuggle eight units of iPhone 4 from Seoul. She failed to declare handsets with the cost of 7 million soums.

Customs officers of Namangan region seized Nexia car with 200 mobile handsets and 367 units of accessories and spare parts with total cost of 8 million soums. Owner of the cargo failed to show documents for products.

Currently, customs investigations are underway on these cases.
