Customs officers detain 500 units of leather products
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Customs officers detained 183 units of sheep skins for 17 million soums from citizen of Karakalpakstan A. Bekchanov at Tashkent International Airport, who was planning to fly to Baku.

State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan said that Bekchanov did not have any documents, which would allow him to import skins. He also did not declare products in customs declaration.

Citizens of Andijan region N. Ergasheva and M. Ibragimova attempted to smuggle 16 units of cattle skins, but they were detained at Dustlik Customs Post.

Customs committee and law enforcement bodies revealed 325 units of cattle skins for 22 million during inspection of house of N. Mirzayeva, which is located near border. Products owner is N. Hakimov, who rented house and was planning to smuggle them to neighboring state.

The committee said that investigations are underway on these cases.

It added that customs officers revealed 36,000 attempts to smuggle skinks with total sum of 931 million soums in 2012.
