Current account balance surplus reaches US$2.3bn in 2009

Current account balance surplus of Uzbekistan reached US$2.3 billion in 2009, the Uzbek President Islam Karimov stated on Wednesday, 27 January 2010.
Speaking at the joint session of the Legislative Chamber and Senate of Oliy Majlis, Uzbek head Islam Karimov said the economy of the country grew by 8.1% and industrial output by 9% in 2009.
He said the volume of total investments rose by 26%, including foreign investments increased by 68%, in the reporting period.
The growth of average salaries made up 40% and real incomes – 26.5%, the Uzbek leader noted.
