Culture Ministry denies reports on banning of Santa Claus, Snow Maiden
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ministry of Culture and Sport Affairs of Uzbekistan denied reports of some mass media on banning New Year heroes – Santa Claus and Snow Maiden – in Uzbekistan.

The press-service of the Ministry said that some internet websites made reports, which misrepresents celebration of New Year in Uzbekistan.

The statement said New Year will be celebrated in Tashkent and other parts of Uzbekistan as important event in cultural life of Uzbekistan.

The Ministry said there were not decrees on distortion of core of New Year and change of names of names of main heroes - Santa Claus and Snow Maiden.

The statement said that three New Year trees were installed at the Mustaqillik Square in Tashkent and some popular singers and actors will present their works at the celebrations.

The Ministry added that 12 Santa Clauses and 12 Snow Maidens will work at the Mustaqillik Square in Tashkent this year compared to one in previous years.
