CSTO Presidents hold informal summit in Moscow
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Presidents of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) held an information summit in Gorki, suburb of Moscow, Russia, on 8 May 2010.

Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyayev represented Uzbekistan at the meeting. The summit was attended by heads of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, as well as CSTO Secretary-General Nikolai Bordyuzha. The sides discussed issues of security and cooperation within the organization.

On the result of talks, the CSTO leaders adopted two statements, including statement on situation in Kyrgyz Republic and statement on agreement between Russia and the USA on decreasing and limiting strategic offensive weapons.

CSTO heads underlined the necessity to render humanitarian and other assistance to people of Kyrgyz Republic to speed up stabilization of situation in the country, where interim government holds power, the statement said.

CSTO states call all countries, who possesses nuclear weapons, to join efforts of Moscow and Washington and contribute to disarmament process.

The summit welcomed signing of agreement between Russia and the USA on further decreasing and limiting strategic offensive weapons. The statement said the CSTO states consider this document as important element in architecture of international security.
