CSTO presidents discuss issues of ensuring security
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Summit of the heads of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) was held in Moscow, Russia, on 10 December 2010.

Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev, Armenian President Serj Sargsyan, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Uzbek President Islam Karimov, Interim Kyrgyz President Roza Otunbaeva and CSTO Secretary-General Nikolai Bordyuzha participated at the summit.

CSTO head discussed results of the organization’s activity in 2010. The leaders paid attention to increasing efficiency of mechanism on crisis response, strengthen security of member states and the region as a whole.

Opening the session, Dmitriy Medvedev underlined important role of the Collective Forces of Operatove Response and Peacekeeping contingent of the CSTO in preventing crisis occurrence, Kremlin press service reported.

Russian President also underlined high results of joint military drills, carried out in 2010, and operations against spread of drugs, illegal migration and preventing use of internet for crime purpose.

The sides also discussed issues on strengthening legal base of the CSTO, perspectives of development of military-technical cooperation of the member states. A package of documents were inked after the talks.
