Uzbekistan25/06/2008CSTO-EurAsEC merger to be decided by leaders of member-states
"Uzbek President Islam Karimov put forward this initiative," Bordyuzha said, adding that from now on everything will depend on the stances of the presidents of the CSTO and EurAsEC member countries.
He stressed that both structures unite the same countries, excluding Armenia, which is not a member of the Eurasian Economic Community.
At the same time, Bordyuzha believes that it is reasonable not to press the CSTO-EurAsEC merger, because the two structures were founded not long ago and should be given time to work separately.
CSTO is an international organisation that unites Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
EurAsEC is an international economic organisation that unites Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
Moldova and Ukraine have an observer status since 2002, and Armenia since 2003.
