Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Based on the information of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, the Department of Combating Economic Crimes at the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan on 16 November 2018 opened a criminal case against the former chairman of the National Karate Federation of Uzbekistan Nurhon Nafasov.

The case was opened under Part 3, Clause “a” of Article 167 (Plunder through appropriation or embezzlement) and Part 1 of Article 165 (Extortion) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the press service of the National Olympic Committee said.

In the course of the audit carried out as part of the investigation, information about the committed unlawful acts was confirmed.

In particular, from the date of election of Nurkhon Nafasov to the position of the chairman of the federation - from 16 May 2018 and until October, the facts of violations of law were committed in the amount of 125 million 557 thousand soums. The money intended for financing the preparation of national teams for competitions was wasted on purpose, the theft was carried out by falsifying documents, and non-payment of incoming membership dues to the federation’s cashier.
