Coscom marks second anniversary of its UCell brand
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- 16 June marks two years since UCell was introduced as a new brand of the FE Coscom LLC and the people of Uzbekistan discovered the new brand, new values and new strategy of the company.

Today UCell is the second in the mobile market of Uzbekistan and offers wide coverage and range of services. Its growth is led by innovation, expansion of coverage and capacity of the network, introduction of new tariffs and services.

As of 1 July 2009, UCell became the number two mobile operator in Uzbekistan in terms of the number of subscribers. UCell sustains the position of the fastest growing mobile company in Uzbekistan and serves more than 5.4 million subscribers to date, as per the local subscriber reporting policy of Uzbekistan.

During these years UCell has successfully continued its network upgrade and expansion. Now UCell network operates on 2.5G and 3G technologies, which enable high-quality voice communications, various value added services and mobile broadband services, anywhere and anytime, to improve the user experience for UCell customers. Today, UCell customers can enjoy high-speed Internet and video calls in 3G network at affordable prices.

In 2009, UCell invested more than USD 200 million in its network development. More than 2,000 sites are operating in the company’s network, leading to increased coverage, higher capacity and better quality. Currently, UCell network covers more than 90% of the population in all regions of Uzbekistan.

New value-added services were launched and their portfolio is constantly expanding, offering new opportunities and comfort to subscribers. Now it includes high-speed mobile Internet on the basis of 3G, GPRS and EDGE, as well as MMS, ring-back tone, funds transfer, voice messaging, SMS-to-email and email-to-SMS and many other services.

International roaming became easier as it is now available in a greater number of countries and in various forms. UCell already has international roaming agreements with 273 operators in 127 countries. UCell launched new CAMEL roaming, which makes roaming instantly available to all prepaid subscribers when they go away on a trip. Today UCell offers CAMEL roaming with 52 operators in the world.

In addition, UCell offers GPRS roaming, which is now available with 112 operators. It is a technology which permits mobile data communication with access to the Internet and other services such as e-mail and MMS while roaming.

UCell plays an important role in the development of Uzbekistan’s economy and infrastructure. During the past two years, UCell has invested around USD 400 million in the country. Being one of the largest companies in Uzbekistan, UCell is a significant employer and tax payer.

Charity and social responsibility have always been one of the important areas of the company’s strategy. Supporting culture, education and socially deprived people is very important for UCell. There are numbers of well-known social projects of UCell helping schools, universities, sports development, theaters and children.

The company pays great attention to the development of its dealer’s network. Now it consists of more than 2,000 offices, which are easy to access by the subscribers in any region of Uzbekistan.

UCell has ambitious targets for the future. They include expansion of 3G network, introduction of new attractive tariffs, constantly increasing VAS portfolio, improvement of network quality, capacity and coverage to satisfy subscribers’ needs. Special attention will be given to corporate sector, including small and medium enterprises.

UCell also plans to raise its customer service to a new level and expand its call center, as well as work on expansion of its sales shops network to provide high quality service to the subscribers.
