Copies of Mahatma Gandhi’s book published in Uzbekistan handed over to Gandhi House Museum in Delhi

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Copies of the Mahatma Gandhi book “The story of my life”, published in Uzbekistan in Uzbek languages, was handed to the House-museum of Mahatma Gandhi (“Gandhi Smriti”) in Delhi.

The event was held in cooperation with the Indo-Uzbek Friendship Society and the Gandhi Smriti Museum. It was attended by representatives of the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Culture of India, members of the Indo-Uzbek Friendship Society, representatives of academia and the media of the host country.

The participants of the event were informed that the book was published on the eve of the State visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to India and was timed to the celebration of the 150th anniversary of Gandhi.

It was underlined that the preface to the book was written by the President of Uzbekistan. Participants were also informed that the first copies of the book were handed to the Indian leadership during the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to India.

Speaking at the event, representatives of ministries and departments, academic circles of India stressed that the publication in Uzbekistan of the book of Mahatma Gandhi is a high respect for the memory of the great son of the Indian people. They expressed their sincere appreciation to the leadership of Uzbekistan for this initiative.
