Cooperation between the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Great Britain to continue to develop

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva met in London with the Speaker of the House of Lords of the British Parliament John McFall.

The negotiations were based on issues such as expanding the political and diplomatic dialogue between Uzbekistan and the UK, intensifying parliamentary diplomacy, giving new impetus to trade and economic relations, and developing cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.

At the beginning, detailed information is provided on the work carried out in recent years in Uzbekistan to ensure human rights and interests, the Development Strategy “Uzbekistan - 2030”, aimed at further democratization of society and the development of socio-economic reforms.

During the conversation, it was especially emphasized that the development of economic partnership between countries is considered a priority; it is beneficial for our countries to expand trade, economic and investment ties. The Uzbek-British Investment Forum has become an effective platform for the development of promising areas of bilateral cooperation.

An exchange of views took place on the widespread use of the capabilities of the parliaments of the two countries to attract investments, expand the range of ties between various sectors of the economy, and strengthen cooperation in the field of education and technology.

Taking into account the ongoing changes in Great Britain and Uzbekistan, and in the whole world, special attention is paid to intensifying inter-parliamentary dialogue.

In particular, it was noted that it is necessary to exchange experience in the areas of passing laws, exercising parliamentary control, conducting visits by parliamentarians of the two countries in order to strengthen mutual ties and close relations, as well as establish constructive cooperation within the framework of international parliamentary structures.

At the end of the meeting, it was agreed that, based on the negotiations and agreements reached, a plan of practical measures for cooperation will be developed.
