Consumers cut off from water supply in Tashkent due to debts

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Disconnection of consumers from the central drinking water supply networks began in Tashkent due to non-payment of debts for services rendered. This was reported by "Toshkent Shahar Suv Taminoti" LLC.

According to the report, the total receivables of consumers for drinking water supply services amount to 1.36 trillion soums, of which more than 250 billion soums are accounted for by debtors in Tashkent.

Representatives of the company note that the main source of financing for water utilities is payment for water supply and sanitation, collected from consumers. However, non-payment of debt leads to financial problems and delays in the development of the system.

Taking into account these factors, Uzsuvtaminot JSC and its regional structures put forward the task of collecting receivables and disconnecting consumers who are not willing to pay bills from the central water supply and sanitation networks.

For effective debt collection, special groups have been formed that collect payments from debtors. Some consumers have been disconnected from the water supply for debts.
