Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The construction of an energy storage system (battery storage) with a capacity of 334 MW/501 MWh has begun in Parkent district of Tashkent region.
The project is being implemented by ACWA Power, a Saudi Arabian company, and was officially launched on 13 December 2024 with the participation of the President of Uzbekistan.
This large-scale project, which is innovative for the country’s energy sector, is of great importance for stabilizing the energy system and creating additional reserve capacity during peak consumption periods.
A distinctive feature of the project is the creation of up to 300 temporary jobs during construction and 10 permanent jobs after its completion.
It is also worth noting that on the same day, 13 December, two other energy storage systems were commissioned in the Andijan and Uzbekistan districts (Andijan and Fergana regions). Each of these systems has a capacity of 150 MW/300 MWh, bringing the total capacity of the three systems to 300 MW/600 MWh.
