Technologies 18/04/2008 Consolidated user’s base of MTS in March increased up 1.3%
The quantity of subscribers of MTS in Russia for March grew up 1.4% to 59.9mln from 59.07mln the month earlier. Thus in the Moscow region the user’s base increased up 0.6% to 13.95mln from 13.87mln, in St.-Petersburg and in the Leningrad region - up 0.8% to 2.88mln from 2.86mln. the quantity of subscribers of MTS in other regions of the Russian Federation grew up 1.7% to 43.06mln from 42.35mln.

In Ukraine the user’s base decreased down 0.3% to 19.61mln from 19.67mln; in Uzbekistan - increased up 6.4% to 3.56mln from 3.34mln, in Turkmenistan - up 15.6% to 0.47mln from 0.4mln, in Armenia - up 1.7% to 1.42mln from1.39mln, in Belarus - up 1.2% to 3.94mln from 3.9mln.

MTS is the largest cellular operator of Central and East Europe, together with the branches it serve 78.53mln subscribers. The authorized capital of the company makes 199.33mln rbl., 1993326138 ordinary shares by face value of 0.1rbl are let out. The control share holding of the company (52.8%) belongs to JFC "System".

The net profit of MTS under US GAAP in the I quarter 2007 grew in 2.4 times up to $448.6mln from $184.4mln during the similar period of 2006. The proceeds increased up 35.1% to US$1.741bln from US$1.289bln , OIBDA - up 50.9% to US$903.1mln from US$598.6mln, OIBDA margin - up to 51.9% from 46.5%.
MTS takes the 14-th place in the "Leading enterprises of Russia" rating under results of 2006, presented by the rating agency AK&M in October, 2007.
