Conference discusses improvement of nutrition in Uzbekistan
Intercontinental Hotel hosts conference on improvement of nutrition in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
A conference titled “Cooperation in improvement of nutrition in Uzbekistan” was held in Tashkent on 29 September, which was aimed at achieving mutual agreement on opportunities and potential of interested sites, establishing state-private partnership in SAFO project realization.
The event was organized by GTZ, BASF, Strategic Alliance on Enrichment of Edible Oil and other main food products (SAFO) and the Ministry of Healthcare of Uzbekistan.
Representatives of ministries, Association on Meat, Fat and Food Industry, Uzstandard agency, Center on realization and coordination of strategy on improvement of population nutrition, UNICEF, World Bank, World Health Organization, KfW and others participated at the conference.
Participants got acquainted with problems of insufficient micronutrients in food and solution for Uzbekistan, as well as economic consequences of the problem. They also considered issues of food fortification to solve problem with insufficient micronutrients.
