Complacency cost us says Musaev
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan coach Akhmadjan Musaev attributed his players' overconfidence following their impressive opening win over Vietnam as the main reason the Central Asians had to twice come from behind to salvage a 2-2 draw with Jordan on Tuesday.

Jordan deservedly took the lead in the 49th minute through Fadi Mahmoud Awad but Uzbekistan hit back into the match after forward Igor Sergeev converted a penalty in the 60th minute.

Sardor Rakhmanov's own goal five minutes later looked to have given Jordan all three points but Sergeev struck in stoppage-time to earn a share of the spoils with his fourth of the campaign following a brace in Uzbekistan's emphatic triumph on Sunday.

"We had a big 4-0 win over Vietnam and that played a part today" Uzbek coach Musaev (pictured) told reporters after the match.

"We knew this Jordan team and we knew that it wouldn't be easy for us but despite having enough knowledge about them the boys were complacent and we had to pay for it.

"This is a situation where both the coaches must be disappointed. They had a good chance to win but we ensured that at least we were not beaten but I am very disappointed with our performance today and we must improve."

Visibly dejected Jordan coach Jamal Ahmad Abu Abed blamed 'bad luck' as the Jordanians were denied all three points right at the death.

"This is a tough group and we had a golden chance to stamp our authority on this match but sometimes you suffer bad luck in football and that's what happened with my team today," he lamented.

"Conceding a late equaliser in a match where your players gave everything is very hard to digest.

"But at the end of the day we are still in the tournament and a good match against Vietnam on Thursday would see us through to the knockout stages."
