Competition Committee Uncovers Illegal Advertising of Betting Services on Social Media
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Competition Committee of Uzbekistan has identified a series of violations related to the unlawful promotion of betting services on social media, the agency’s press service reported.
The Committee’s investigation focused on video clips that featured the branding and name of the betting company Melbet.
According to the statement, bloggers with large followings — numbering in the hundreds of thousands — were found to have published staged video content promoting gambling activities.
The investigation revealed that four individuals were involved in distributing the advertising material: Jasurbek Shodiev (known online as jasjannew), Dadabek Normamatov (allme.uz), Sherkhan Rakhmatov (sherxon.zdss), and Khodjiakbar Khasanbayev (hojiakbar_ku).
Following the review, these individuals were held administratively liable in accordance with the law. All case materials have been submitted to the court for further consideration.
The Committee emphasized that advertising of gambling, including betting services, is strictly prohibited in Uzbekistan. Any attempts to disseminate such content, especially via influential digital platforms, will be met with firm action.
