Commercial banks issue 1.74m banking cards in 1Q 2010
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Commercial banks from Uzbekistan emitted 1.74 million units of banking payment cards in the first quarter of 2010, the statement of the Economy Ministry and the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
The statement said total number of issued banking payment cards reached 6.49 million units in the country.
Number of installed POS-terminals grew by 32,700 units in January-March 2010 and made up 60,840 units.
In the result, cashless payments with use of banking payment cards rose by 2.9 times year-on-year in the first three months of 2010. Share of cashless payment for goods and services grew from 67% in January-March 2009 to 86% in January-March 2010.
