Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 30 June, the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Korea organized video-conference negotiations between the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the Development of Tourism and the Korean Association of Travel Agencies (KATA) in order to establish cooperation on the development of tourist exchange between two countries.

The event was attended by the deputy chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Ulugbek Azamov, the chairman of KATA Chang Hee Oh, the responsible staff of this association, as well as representatives of leading Korean tour operators, such as “Hana Tour” and “Modetour”.

Stressing the importance of joint efforts to overcome the negative consequences of coronavirus, KATA Chairman Chang Hee Oh announced the readiness of Korean tourism companies to actively cooperate with Uzbekistan in order to resume tourism exchange between the two countries.

The participants of the event highly appreciated the measures taken in Uzbekistan to develop the tourism sector, including in the framework of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated June 19, 2020 No. 4755 “On additional measures for the development of the tourism sector with strict observance of the requirements of the enhanced sanitary and epidemiological safety regime”, according to which the system of sanitary and epidemiological safety “Uzbekistan. Safe travel Guaranteed”( Uzbekistan. Safe travel guaranteed).

During the event, an exchange of views took place regarding the areas of cooperation on the introduction of a safe tourism system and the intensification of advertising and marketing activities in order to promote the tourism potential of Uzbekistan among Korean travelers.

As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached on the elaboration of the issue of signing a bilateral agreement, which will serve as a regulatory framework for establishing long-term cooperation in the field of tourism.

Founded in 1991, the KATA Association represents the interests of more than 2 thousand Korean companies operating in the field of tourism. The association also includes special members from representatives of departments, local authorities and leading airlines of the Republic of Korea, such as Korean Air and Asiana Airlines, as well as branches of foreign tourism organizations.
