CNPC: Exploration unit BGP won US$400M overseas contracts 1H
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- China National Petroleum Corp.’s geophysical-services unit, the Bureau of Geophysical Prospecting, won contracts for 15 overseas exploration projects, including those in the United Arab Emirates, Iraq and Uzbekistan, in the first half of this year, CNPC said on its Web site Thursday.

The total value of projects amounts to US$400 million, CNPC said in its first half-year work review.

The value of BGP’s international projects put into effect amounts to about 96% of that planned for the whole year, CNPC said, without providing further details.

BGP is one of the world’s largest onshore seismic service contractors, and provides geophysical services to CNPC and other international oil companies.

Crude oil output from China’s biggest oil field, Daqing, reached 20.15 million tonnes in the first half of this year, securing the annual output target of 40 million tonnes, the company said.

CNPC also produced 15 million metric tonnes of oil and gas on an oil-equivalent basis from its second-largest oil field, Changqing, in the first six months, it said.
