CIS Power Council meets to discuss cooperation issues
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Power Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) held a session in Chishinau, Moldavia, on 24 October. The council discussed preparation of national power systems to autumn-winter work in 2009-2010 and parallel work electricity grid of the CIS.

The session also considered proposals on overcoming negative consequences of global financial crisis to power industry, realization of joint decisions of Euroelectric and the CIS Power Council on preparation to formation of single power market, as well as concept of cooperation of the CIS members in power industry and plan of initial actions on its realization. The concept includes key tasks on increasing production and consumption of energy resources in the CIS states.

The concept will be reviewed by the CIS Prime Ministers in November 2009 at their Yalta summit.

Participants discussed issues, submitted by other bodies of the CIS and other issues of cooperation of the CIS member states in power sector.
