The Chinese company will build pump station in Narpay district in Samarkand region and replace eight blocks with the capacity of 1,600 cubic meters per second each.
The company will also construct pump station in Beshariq district of Ferghana Valley with replacement of 10 blocks with the capacity of 1,400 cubic meters per second each. The project will be realized within two years.
The project will be financed due to loan of the Asian Development Bank for US$100 million, which was provided to the Government of Uzbekistan in December 2009.
The ADB loan was issued within the project on management of water resources in Ferghana and Zarafshan Valleys with total cost of US$144 million. The Government of Uzbekistan issued US$44 million for the project.
The project will ensure sustainable development of agriculture at irrigated lands and increase efficiency of water and land resources use in these two valleys.
As reported earlier, the Government of Uzbekistan is planning to attract preferential loans of the international financial institutions and the Chinese government for US$500 million for reconstruction of the eighteen pump stations in the country.
In 2010, China’s Electric Equipment Corporation (CNEEC) constructed three pump stations in Andijan region with the cost of US$20 million. The project was financed due to loan of Chinese Eximbank for US$13 million.
