Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- China will ensure the continuity, stability and sustainability of its macroeconomic policy and will strive to maintain the functioning of the economy in a rational range. This was announced today by Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Keqiang in Beijing during a meeting with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva via video link.
Praising the IMF’s role in promoting free trade and global economic development, Li Keqiang hoped that the organization would continue its efforts to promote multilateral consensus, and added that China, as a major developing country, was also willing to contribute to this.
Talking about the current economic situation in China, Li Keqiang said, "We are confident that China’s economy will demonstrate positive growth this year, which is not an easy task for a country of 1.4 billion people."
Despite the fact that the global economy is on the path of recovery, the world is still facing uncertainty, he said.
“We will continue to promote social and economic development while maintaining control over the COVID-19 pandemic. We will ensure the continuity, stability and sustainability of our macroeconomic policies, and will strive to maintain the functioning of the economy in a rational range, ”said Li Keqiang.
For her part, K. Georgieva said that the IMF appreciates the important role that China plays in trade and in helping to restore the world economy, reduce poverty, achieve low-carbon development and in other industries. In addition, she stressed that the IMF is ready to expand cooperation with the Chinese side, jointly defend multilateralism, provide new incentives for the recovery of world trade, and seek to further strengthen the trend of global economic recovery.
