China Releases Report on Construction and Development of the “Air Silk Road”
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Civil Aviation Administration of China, together with the National Development and Reform Commission, has published a report on the construction and future prospects of the “Air Silk Road” under the Belt and Road Initiative, Xinhua News Agency reported.
The document notes that the “Air Silk Road” is a key component of international transport cooperation and plays an important role in deepening engagement among Belt and Road partner countries.
As of the end of June 2025, China operates regular passenger flights to 61 Belt and Road countries and cargo air services to 33 countries. Intergovernmental air transport agreements have been signed with 107 states, representing about 70% of all initiative participants.
From 2017 to June 2025, 1.559 million flights were operated between China and partner countries. Passenger traffic exceeded 200 million person-trips, while cargo and mail volumes reached 5.951 million tons.
The report also outlines priority areas for future cooperation, including expanding the route network, developing aviation infrastructure, and improving service quality to boost business, tourism, and cultural exchanges between nations.
