China increases trade with Europe and Central Asia by rail

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Internet version of the leading Chinese newspaper People’s Daily reported that in the first seven months of this year, the volume of goods transported by freight trains through the Khorgos checkpoint increased by more than 1.5 times (Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, North-West China), on the railway routes China - Europe and China - Central Asia, Dunyo news agency reported.

According to the newspaper, from January to July 2020, 2,240 trains with 3.3 million tons of cargo passed through the Khorgos railway checkpoint located on the border of China with Kazakhstan, which is 55.37 percent more than in the same period last year. ...

During this period, 1,974 freight trains departed from China with clothing, electronics, electromechanical products, and chemical products.

A total of 266 freight trains entered the PRC from Europe and Central Asia at the same time by rail at the same time through this checkpoint. "They mainly came from Germany, Poland, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and other countries and brought cotton yarn, construction materials, cars, auto parts and so on," concludes People’s Daily.
