Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 21 November, the Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, held a meeting with a delegation led by the Vice President of the Export-Import Bank of China (Exim Bank), Yang Dongning.
During the discussions, both sides extensively reviewed the progress of current joint projects and outlined prospects for further expanding bilateral cooperation.
The Chinese side expressed appreciation for the support provided by the Uzbek government to Exim Bank's initiatives, including assistance in establishing the Bank's first Regional Representative Office. This office, located in Tashkent, coordinates the Bank's activities in eight countries: Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia.
Special attention during the meeting was given to the discussion of promising projects in key sectors of the economy, such as water management, telecommunications, hydropower, and transportation.
The parties also reached a mutual agreement regarding further financial support for non-sovereign projects aimed at producing in-demand products across various industries in Uzbekistan.
To date, with the participation of Exim Bank of China, 51 projects have been financed, with a total value exceeding US$3 billion. These projects cover areas such as chemical industry, energy, transportation, information technology, agriculture, and water management, as well as support for Uzbekistan's small and medium-sized enterprises.
