Children’s Chess Tournament to be held in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- With the aim to expand cooperation in the area of culture and sports between the European Union and Uzbekistan, on 1-2 June 2010, Europa House in Tashkent, in cooperation with th Chess Federation of Uzbekistan, is organizing a national children’s chess tournament devoted to the International Day for Protection of Children.

The tournament will be a 9-round Swiss. The first day will see 5 rounds played, while the remaining 4 will be played on the second. More than 70 children from all over the country will participate in the tournament, including economically disadvantaged and disabled children.

The opening ceremony will be held on the 1st of June at 10.00 at te Republican Chess Club. Players taking places 1 to 12 will receive valuable prizes, but none of participants will leave the tournament without a memorable gift. Grandmaster Anton Filippov will play a simultaneous exhibition game against 10 winners – five top scoring girls and five boys.
