Uzbekistan 26/11/2008 Children Village employees learn basic guarantees for protection of child’s rights in domestic conflicts
Children Village in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Legal Clinic’s clinicians under the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) conducted the first training course for staff and administration of the Children Village in Tashkent on 20 November.

The course was organized at the support of the UNDP Project "Legal Aid and Legal Literacy for Better Access to Justice". The main goal of this event was raising legal awareness among the staff of Children Village during educational process for juveniles.

Training on the rights of juveniles in their care, was conducted by students- clinicians teamed up with training - specialists and legal experts. The goal of the training course was raising legal awareness on the rights and obligations of staff during teaching process as well as on basic legal safeguards of child’s rights in domestic conflicts and responsibilities in cases of violations of these rights.

Topic for training was prompted by administration of the Children Village which requested help on enhancing knowledge of its staff on the impact of domestic conflicts on child’s rights and legal protection on the latter in such situations.

Fifteen participants from administration and teachers were educated on the different types of violence, their impact on child’s feelings and mentality, as well as on legal tools for protection of child’s rights, particularly in domestic conflicts. The event was one of the series of trainings conducted by Legal Clinic in Children Village and dedicated to 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The event was conducted by the support of UNDP in Uzbekistan within the framework of the Project "Legal Aid and Legal Literacy for Better Access to Justice". The main objectives of the project are to improve access to justice for people who cannot afford or have limited access to legal services, such as women, the poor, the elderly and people with disabilities and to increase quality of legal services through training of law students.
