Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 25 September, a Chevrolet Lacetti caught fire in Tashkent, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

According to the ministry, the incident occurred on Makhtumkuli Street in the Yashnabad district of the capital. The emergency services received a call about the fire at 18:34, and the fire brigade arrived on the scene at 18:42, quickly extinguishing the blaze in just two minutes.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, but the car was damaged.

In mid-September 2024, the Competition Development and Consumer Protection Committee of Uzbekistan ordered UzAuto Motors and its dealer to recall 37 Lacetti vehicles due to a potential defect.

The decision followed a complaint from A.D., a resident of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, whose Lacetti L-Style MT, manufactured by UzAuto Motors in 2023, caught fire less than five months after purchase due to a defect. The manufacturer did not promptly address the issue.

During the investigation, the committee confirmed the violation and uncovered another fire involving the same make and model in the Navoi region.
