Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In 2024, the Chevrolet Cobalt emerged as the most popular car in Kazakhstan, topping the list of the most in-demand models. This was reported by the Kazakhstan Automobile Union (KAU).

According to the organization’s data, official dealers sold 205,111 new cars over the year, marking a 3.2% increase compared to 2023. This figure is comparable to the results of the previous year when there was a sharp rise in sales in the fourth quarter. December 2024 was a record month, with 25,570 cars sold, an 8.6% increase over the same month in 2023. Overall, 2024 became the most successful year in the history of Kazakhstan’s car market.

For the second consecutive year, Hyundai led the top brands, with a market share of 21.6%. Over the year, 44,218 vehicles of this brand were sold, most of which were manufactured at the factory in Almaty. However, compared to 2023, sales decreased by 5.4%.

Chevrolet ranked second, with cars produced in Kostanay. In 2024, Kazakhstanis bought 30,927 vehicles of this brand, a 32.5% decrease from the previous year.

Kia took third place, selling 23,045 cars, which is 9.6% less than in 2023.

The Chinese brand Chery secured the fourth position, increasing sales by 21.7% to 14,883 units.

Closing out the top five was Jac, also manufactured in Kostanay. The brand moved up from seventh to fifth place, selling 11,771 vehicles (+56.7%).

Toyota ranked sixth, with 11,045 units sold (+2.7%).

Haval took seventh place, selling 10,983 cars, a 45.3% increase from the previous year.

The eighth, ninth, and tenth positions were occupied by Jetour (9,507 units, +141.9%), Changan (8,510 units, +39.8%), and Geely (8,252 units, +126.5%).

Regarding the most popular models of 2024, the Chevrolet Cobalt retained the leading position with 26,537 units sold.

The second position was held by the Hyundai Tucson (22,389 units), followed by the Kia Sportage (8,834 units).

Other models in the top ten included the Hyundai Elantra (6,520 units), Chery Tiggo 2 (5,310 units), Haval M6 (5,185 units), Chery Tiggo 7 Pro (4,907 units), Jac J7 (4,585 units), Hyundai Santa Fe (4,423 units), and Kia Sorento (4,208 units).
