Chemical complex Karakulkimiyo joins the free economic zone Karakul

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The project for the construction of a chemical complex for the production of nitrogen fertilizers Karakulkimiyo became a resident of the Free Economic Zone "Karakul" (FEZ "Karakul"). The investment company Ferkensco Management Limited, which implements the project, has received a plot of 50 hectares for long-term use.

Karakulkimiyo will become one of the largest industrial enterprises in Bukhara region. The chemical complex will annually produce up to 495,000 tons of ammonia and 594,000 tons of urea.

The main raw materials for the production of ammonia are natural gas, atmospheric air and water vapor. Carbamide is obtained by direct synthesis of liquid ammonia and carbon dioxide. At the output, the product will be urea granules ready for use in agriculture.

The production park of the Karakulkimiyo chemical complex will comprise 364 pieces of equipment. The staff of the enterprise is more than 500 employees.

- The project partners are the Enter Engineering Group of Companies, as well as the Swiss company Casale S.A., which, within the framework of this project, provides services for the design and provision of a license to use its own technology for manufacturing this type of chemical product. The uniqueness of the development lies in the fact that it allows you to save on gas operating costs when obtaining ammonia, and also reduces emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere, - said Timur Juraev, head of the Ferkensco Management Limited representative office in Uzbekistan.

Entering the construction stage of Karakulkimiyo is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2023, the opening of production is on 1 January 2026. The volume of investments is US$600 million.

The Karakul Free Economic Zone was established in 2023 by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan. A special legal regime has been established on the territory of the FEZ, aimed at attracting investments, stimulating the construction and operation of new industries and the socio-economic development of the region.

Ferkensco Management Limited is an investment company creating a chain of production of phosphate, nitrogen and potash fertilizers in Uzbekistan. Among the company’s projects is the construction of chemical complexes in Samarkand, Bukhara, Navoi and Surkhandarya regions.
