Changes to Constitution of Uzbekistan to foster party’s work
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- One of key issued of the fifth plenary session of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan was introduction of changes to the Constitution of the country.

In line with these amendments, candidacy of the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan will be proposed by the party or a group of parties, which won the most seats in the lower house of parliament. The law approved by parliament and now directed to the Uzbek President. Senate also approved norm, which allows Oliy Majlis to issue vote of no-confidence to Prime Minister.

Senator from Karakalpakstan Sersinbay Seytnazarov said the approved two laws, related to introducing changes and amendments to the Constitution and some laws, provide great opportunities for strengthening role of the political parties. New laws will allow to foster competition between political parties, he added.

Senator from Bukhara region Sobirjon Hamroev said that new order on nominating candidacy of Prime Minister and introduction of vote of no-confidence is new stage of reforming and democratizating the country.

Hamroev said these amendments also gave impulse to activities of local Council of Deputies as well. He said that the parties boosted their work with local deputies.

Senator Gafurjon Muhammedov stated that the new laws will allow executive bodies to review their approach and methods of management, including local governors. Senator added that parliament will consider now report of Prime Minister on social-economic development of Uzbekistan.
