Changes have been made to the composition of the Central Election Commission

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the fiftieth plenary meeting of the Senate, the issue of introducing changes to the composition of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan was considered.

As is known, the Law “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Aimed at Further Improving the Procedure for Conducting Elections and Referendums” introduced several changes and additions to the Electoral Code.

According to these changes, it is established that the Central Election Commission is formed of nine members and operates permanently.

One member of the Central Election Commission is a representative of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

Based on the above, 14 current members of the Central Election Commission, based on their statements, expressed a request to resign.

Also, in accordance with the decisions of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the Tashkent City Kengash of People’s Deputies, the candidacies of Khalmuhammed Paluaniyazov and Mukhtabar Khusanova were recommended as members of the Central Election Commission.

First, in accordance with the decisions of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the Tashkent City Kengash of People’s Deputies, the issue of electing candidates recommended for membership in the Central Election Commission was considered.

After this, the senators also expressed their attitude to the statements of members of the Central Election Commission.

At the end of the discussion, a corresponding Senate resolution was adopted.
