Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva took part in the first meeting of the heads of parliaments of the member countries of the Group of Friends of Neutrality. The videoconference event was organized by the Mejlis Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan and was dedicated to the role of parliamentary cooperation in strengthening peace and dialogue.

The forum brought together speakers of parliaments from different countries, as well as leaders and representatives of international and regional organizations.

For information, it should be noted that the Group of Friends of Neutrality is an unofficial association of UN member states, created at the initiative of Turkmenistan in the name of peace, security and sustainable development.

The event noted that the Group of Friends of Neutrality plays a significant role in promoting multilateral cooperation to strengthen peace, while parliamentarians, as legislators, play a key role in ensuring peaceful solutions, sustainable development and global security.

Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva noted in her speech that in the face of increasing challenges of our time, the need for strengthening trust and solidarity is growing. She focused on the fact that comprehensive provision of socio-economic stability and the development of foreign economic relations between countries are becoming key tasks of broad cooperation at the international level.

“We consider today’s meeting as an addition to the practical interaction of parliaments within a multilateral format, as well as a means of involving them in discussing the most important issues in strengthening peace and dialogue, closely related to the stability and well-being of our countries,” the Chairwoman of the Senate emphasized.

Participants noted the importance of continuing to develop interaction between parliaments, emphasizing that this contributes to the formation of informed decisions on current issues on the agenda and strengthening friendly relations.

At the end of the event, the final document of the first meeting of the heads of parliaments of the member countries of the Group of Friends of Neutrality was adopted, aimed at promoting parliamentary cooperation in strengthening peace and dialogue.
