Chairperson of the Senate meets with the current chairman of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva received the current Chairman of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Foreign Minister of North Macedonia Buyar Osmani.

Issues of further development of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the OSCE in such areas as inter-parliamentary relations, gender equality, human rights, environmental protection and sustainable development were discussed.

In recent years, cooperation with the OSCE has significantly intensified and relations have reached a qualitatively new level. It was especially emphasized that 27 activities of the "Roadmap" for the implementation of OSCE projects in the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2023-2024, adopted in April this year, were successfully implemented in such areas as security, economic, environmental and social development, climate change, gender development.

In 2022, for the first time, within the framework of the OSCE PA, the resolution “Implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals of the OSCE” initiated by Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan was adopted, which contains specific recommendations in the field of implementing the SDGs, increasing inclusiveness and ensuring gender equality.

In this regard, the meeting focused on issues of expanding cooperation within the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA).

An exchange of views also took place on issues of strengthening cooperation in the field of the green economy and combating climate change, gender equality, and the implementation of joint measures to combat human trafficking and forced labor.

Buyar Osmani expressed his readiness to support the processes of democratic renewal and socio-economic reforms in Uzbekistan and to contribute to the development of cooperation.
