Chairperson of the Senate held a direct dialogue with the youth of our country

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 25 December, within the framework of the Youth Forum in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, an open dialogue “Leader and Youth” was organized with the Chairperson of the Senate.

It was attended by senators, members of the Youth Parliament, young deputies, enterprising, active and talented youth from various fields, laureates of state awards and scholarships, and media representatives. Thanks to this event, over a thousand young people were reached online and offline.

During the dialogue, the Chairperson of the Senate Tanzila Narbayeva focused on practical work, reforms, opportunities created for youth, priority tasks and legislative innovations in the field of the country’s youth policy.

It was noted that over the past 6 years, 106 laws and regulations on youth policy have been adopted, the rights and freedoms of youth have been further strengthened, and the legal framework for the protection of their legitimate interests has been improved.

It was emphasized that these reforms indicate that the issue of youth has acquired the status of state policy in New Uzbekistan.

In our country there are more than 19 million young people under the age of 30, which is about 60% of the total population. This indicator is an incomparable source of wealth for any developed and developing country.

It is recognized that, at the initiative of the President, the issue of comprehensive support for youth in all areas, including education, entrepreneurship, social assistance and other areas, has been raised to a new level.

Thus, enrollment in higher education has increased fourfold over the past 6 years (from 9 percent to 38 percent). 151 thousand. Students were issued preferential educational loans in the amount of 1.7 trillion soums.

A completely new system has been introduced aimed at ensuring youth employment and solving their problems - the “Youth Notebook”. This year alone, 282 thousand young people received assistance worth 416 billion soums. 124 thousand young people were trained in professions, 133.8 thousand were trained in entrepreneurship.

A new system of lending to youth entrepreneurship has been established, preferential loans in the amount of 6.2 trillion soums have been allocated to 253 thousand 789 boys and girls.

As a result of these practical works, over the past 6 years in our country the number of entrepreneurs under the age of 30 has increased 8 times and exceeded 750 thousand.

Our youth take full advantage of these opportunities and express themselves fully in society.

In recent years, 758 talented and dedicated young people who have made a worthy contribution to the development of our country have been awarded various state awards.

Attention was focused on the fact that the creation of Youth Parliaments under the chambers of the Oliy Majlis is of great importance in terms of increasing political and legal consciousness and literacy, social activity of young people, protecting their legitimate interests and involving young people in the legislative process.

During the dialogue, the President of the Senate emphasized that young people should pay special attention to certain issues.

In particular, organizing public discussions among young people about laws considered in local Kengashes and chambers of the Oliy Majlis, bringing thoughts, ideas and proposals on important issues to the Senate and its committees through their representatives in the Youth Parliament, further expanding international cooperation in the field of youth policy , establishing connections with youth of foreign countries, mutual exchange of experience, as well as increasing the number of young deputies in parliament and local Kengashes in accordance with the number of boys and girls.

During the dialogue, enterprising, active and talented representatives of youth from various fields spoke and expressed their opinions on the effective work carried out on youth policy in our country and its role in their lives. They also put forward a number of proposals regarding interaction and constant communication with the Senate.

Young people expressed interest in regularly organizing such meetings in a traditional form.
