Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 1 January 2023, the Republic of Kazakhstan transfers the chairmanship in the CIS to the Kyrgyz Republic.
During the chairmanship of Kazakhstan in the Commonwealth, a number of important decisions were made aimed at strengthening integration ties, including:
- on the creation, under the auspices of the CIS, of an organization to support and promote the Russian language;
- on the launch of the activities of the Commission on Human Rights of the CIS and the Commission of Commissioners for the Rights of the Child;
- on granting the status of the Cultural Capital of the CIS in 2023 to St. Petersburg;
Signed:
- Agreement on cooperation in combating corruption,
- Agreement on cooperation in the prevention and response to emergency situations in the field of public health of a sanitary and epidemiological nature;
- Program of cooperation in the fight against terrorism and extremism for 2023-2025;
- Statements by the heads of state on cooperation in the climate sphere, as well as on the development of cooperation in the field of culture.
Presidency in the CIS is carried out by each state during the calendar year in turn in the order of the Russian alphabet.
The previous and subsequent chairmen become co-chairs and assist the current chairman in the work.
In 2023, Kazakhstan and Russia will be co-chairs in the CIS.
